AHK Norway and NHF Lead Stakeholders of MOHN in Norway
24. April 2023Workshop “Success factors for offshore H2 ramp-up in the North Sea“ in Oslo
6. June 2023TNO is the lead stakeholder for the Netherlands in the MOHN project to provide country expertise and network. A workshop will be organized jointly by cruh21 and TNO to identify hurdles and elaborate solutions for the ramp-up of offshore hydrogen in the North Sea.
Rene Peters, Business Director Gas Technology at TNO said:
“Offshore hydrogen production will be key to accelerate the deployment of offshore wind beyond 2030 as wind parks develop further offshore (>100 km) and increase to a scale of 2 GW and beyond. This will require accelerated development and upscaling of the technology of offshore electrolysis. TNO is developing with 14 partners the first offshore hydrogen pilot PosHYdon in the Dutch offshore and has developed a centralised offshore electrolysis concept of 500 MW together with more than 40 partner in the North Sea Energy Program. However international collaboration is required to accelerate further and that is why we have become a partner in the MOHN project of cruh21’’.
Meiko Neumann, Managing Director at cruh21 said:
“There is a multitude of interesting developments in offshore hydrogen underway in the Netherlands. We are excited to gain TNO as a lead Stakeholder with extensive expertise in the offshore hydrogen field, who launched the HEROW platform and leads the North Sea Energy Program. The expertise of TNO in this area will be invaluable in helping us assess challenges in offshore hydrogen production in the North Sea. We look forward to a productive and mutually beneficial collaboration that will drive transnational cooperation.”
